PUMAS OF PATAGONIA JUNE 2027

ONE OF THE MOST SPECTACULAR WILDLIFE EXPERIENCES ANYWHERE. PHOTOGRAPH PUMAS AT CLOSE RANGE AMONG THE BREATHTAKING LANDSCAPE OF TORRES DEL PAINE NATIONAL PARK WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF A 4X4.

We have been running Puma photography tours since 2013, and over the years we’ve refined an itinerary specifically designed for photographers, consistently delivering excellent results. On this journey to southern Chile, we use comfortable 4×4 vehicles to efficiently reach the higher areas of a vast private property bordering Torres del Paine National Park, inside Laguna Amarga huge private property. Working alongside highly skilled Puma trackers, we are able to locate and photograph these elusive “ghost cats” at close range. Our success rate is very high—encounters are the norm, and it is rare to have a day without at least one sighting. In addition to Pumas, the area offers abundant Guanacos and good chances of observing Gray and Culpeo Foxes, Humboldt’s Hog-nosed Skunk, and a variety of bird species such as White-tufted and Great Grebes, several duck species, Black-necked Swan, Andean Condor, Black-chested Buzzard-Eagle, Magellanic Woodpecker, and Austral Pygmy Owl.

Winter departures offer a particularly unique experience, with a high likelihood of snow adding a dramatic element to the landscape. This is our preferred season in Patagonia: conditions are quieter, with fewer groups in the field, allowing greater flexibility and access. It is also an excellent time for Puma photography, as they tend to be more active throughout the day. Temperatures typically range from -5°C (23°F) to 6°C (43°F), with occasional colder days. However, winds are often lighter than in other seasons, and calm days are the norm. With proper clothing, the cold is very manageable, and when the sun is out, the quality of light throughout the day is exceptional.
