PUMAS OF PATAGONIA JUNE 2027
ONE OF THE MOST SPECTACULAR WILDLIFE EXPERIENCES ANYWHERE. PHOTOGRAPH PUMAS AT CLOSE RANGE AMONG THE BREATHTAKING LANDSCAPE OF TORRES DEL PAINE NATIONAL PARK WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF A 4X4.
We have been organizing Puma photo tours since 2013, and over the years our experience has allowed us to develop an itinerary specifically designed for wildlife photographers, consistently delivering excellent results. On this tour in southern Chile, we use comfortable 4×4 vehicles to quickly and efficiently access higher areas of a large private property adjacent to Torres del Paine National Park, Estancia Laguna Amarga. We work with highly experienced local Puma trackers, giving us exceptional opportunities to photograph these elusive “ghost cats”.
Our success rate is very high, and it is rare to go a day without photographing at least one Puma. The area also supports abundant wildlife, including large numbers of Guanacos, with good chances of seeing Gray and Culpeo Foxes, Humboldt’s hog-nosed Skunk, and a variety of bird species such as White-tufted and Great Grebes, several ducks, Black-necked Swan, Andean Condor, Black-chested Buzzard-Eagle, Magellanic Woodpecker, and Austral Pygmy Owl.
Winter tours offer a particularly special experience, with frequent snow adding a unique atmosphere to the landscape. Winter is our favorite season in Patagonia: it is quieter, with fewer groups, allowing more freedom to explore, and Pumas tend to be more active throughout the day. Temperatures usually range from –5°C (23°F) to 6°C (43°F), with colder days possible, but winds are generally lighter and often absent. With proper clothing, the cold is very manageable, and when the sun is out, the light throughout the day is exceptional.
