Amazing experience with Pantanal Photo Tours - My wife and I booked a 10 day private custom tour with Pantanal Photo tours and couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Our stays included Trilha Dos... read more Tucanos in the Atlantic Rainforest (very basic lodge but with amazing birds and opportunity for multiflash hummingbird photography), Aymara lodge, and Piuval lodge. For the jaguar excursions, we stayed on the the Panoramico House Boat which I would strongly recommend. It's comfortable, and knocks off about 30 mins each way on jaguar excursions.

Our primary focus was jaguars, and boy did we see them. Twenty one sightings over 5 days of probably 17 different jaguars in total, including a rare mom with 2 cubs. The boats Pantanal Photo Tours use have seats that are taller than normal and rotate 360 degrees, perfect for photography. A tripod is pretty useless on the boat, take a Wimberly monogimbal and monopod instead.

Tourism seems to be an afterthought for the Brazilian administration and there is no 5 star luxury in the Pantanal. But the birding and jaguar sighting is absolutely phenomenal.

Brazil is very difficult to navigate for those that don't speak Portugese. Our guide Guilherme was very attentive to our needs, ensured we were comfortable (daytime temps averaged 105F in the Pantanal), and was quick to contact management and resolve any issues that arose at the lodges we stayed at. By the end of the trip, we felt we were saying goodbye to a dear friend. He is an ornithologist, and a photographer, that made bird photography even more interesting.

While the company is geared towards photo enthusiasts, my non-photographer wife had a fabulous time and i would enthusiastically recommend them. The transportation logistics were handled extremely well. and if their group tours are sold out, ask if they can put together a custom tour.

As ariranhas foram outra vantagem, entre muitas outras. Nossa guia, Larissa, trabalhou duro para garantir que conseguíssemos ótimas fotos, ajudando com configurações e dicas de pós - processamento quando solicitado. Os lugares onde ficamos eram todos muito bons - o barco fluvial (flotel) nos permitiu ser os primeiros e últimos a sair de muitos avistamentos. A comida era sempre farta e saborosa.
