Day 1: Arrival in Cuiabá in the morning, where your guide will meet you at the airport. Depending on arrival time you will have lunch at a restaurant in front of the airport. Transfer to Porto Jofre Hotel afterwards. This is a long drive (05 hrs) along the Transpantaneira Road, with many stops to watch and photograph wildlife.Arrival at Hotel Porto Jofre at the end of the day. [Incl.: lunch, dinner]

Day 2: Full day searching for jaguars. We will get a boat early in the morning and photograph Jaguars, returning for lunch and go out again in the afternoon until dusk. Many other animals and birds can be seen as well, such as kingfishers, Giant Otters, caimans, etc. [Incl.: brkfst, lunch, dinner]

Day 4: Half a day searching for jaguars. We will get a boat early in the morning and photograph Jaguars, returning for lunch. After lunch car transfer to Pousada Piuval, stopping along the way for photos. [Incl.: brkfst, lunch, dinner]

Day 5: Very early start with a private open safari vehicle to try to find a Giant Anteater. Return for breakfast at the lodge and out again with the safari vehicle. Here we will look for varied animals and birds, such as Hyacinth Macaws, Southern Tamandua, Tapir, Monkeys, Coatis and also Jaguars. Lunch at the lodge and afternoon ride again, exploring the vast private property of this lodge, returning at the begginng of night, looking for nocturnal animals. [Incl.: brkfst, lunch, dinner]

Day 6: Early start again for Giant Anteater and morning safari after breakfast. After lunch transfer back to Cuiabá and end of tour. [Incl.: brkfst, lunch]

HOTEL PORTO JOFRE

The best hotel on the Porto Jofre region, located on the edges of the Cuiabá River and with their own air strip. The hotel is ample, with very good, large rooms and common areas. Food is excellent and with many options.

The boat where we go out on river cuises is large and spacious, very stable. It is equipped with modern and fast 4-stroke engine and radio to communicate wth other boats on the river. The boat drivers are very competent at positioning the boat for photos and excellent Jaguar spotters.

PIUVAL LODGE

This lodge is located at the beggining of the Transpantaneira Road. Like Barranco Alto, it also has a large property inland for our explorations by vehicle, with a mix of habitats. Lately Jaguars are becoming increasingly more common in the area, to the point of being seen right around the lodge buildings!

Rooms are spacious and clean. Food is good and varied, served on a buffet.
