ATLANTIC RAINFOREST EXTENSION 2027

THE ATLANTIC RAINFOREST IS ONE OF THE MOST BIODIVERSE HABITATS OF THE WORLD, HOME TO A HUGE NUMBER OF ENDEMIC SPECIES. ON THIS PRE TOUR WE WILL FOCUS ON PHOTOGRAPHING THE COLORFUL BIRDS OF THIS RICH FOREST.

On this unique itinerary, we explore one of the most stunning regions of the Atlantic Rainforest, bordered by two exceptional and well-preserved reserves: Caverna do Diabo State Park and the Alto Ribeira State Park. Together, these areas protect the largest continuous remnant of Atlantic Rainforest in existence—thousands of square kilometers of pristine forest and lush, dramatic landscapes.

Our accommodation is a comfortable lodge set along the banks of the Ribeira do Iguape River, perfectly positioned for daily excursions into a variety of nearby habitats. Throughout the tour, you’ll have opportunities to photograph an impressive diversity of birdlife, including Saffron and Spot-billed Toucanets, Channel-billed and Red-breasted Toucans, vibrant tanagers, Rufous-capped Motmot, several woodpecker and trogon species, and a wide array of hummingbirds.

To enhance your hummingbird photography, your guide will also set up a multiflash system—ideal for capturing dynamic and truly unique images. Mammals may make an appearance as well, such as Tayra and Black Capuchin Monkeys.

This itinerary is an excellent pre-tour extension to your Pantanal adventure, offering a completely different ecosystem packed with exciting photographic opportunities.
