This was one of the most incredible puma encounters we’ve ever experienced. For over an hour, we had been quietly following this stunning female, capturing breathtaking shots as she moved gracefully through the deep snow.

Then, she paused at the edge of a high vantage point, overlooking a long, sheer rock wall. Suddenly, she called out—her voice echoing back in waves that seemed to ripple through the entire valley.

The sound was pure magic, and we will forever remember this encounter. Moments like this are the kind of unforgettable treasures a puma photo tour can offer.

Pumas of Patagonia III 🐾
These beautiful photos were taken in Patagonia, Chile. by our dear friend and client, Gwyn Brough. We’re incredibly proud of how much her photography has evolved! Gwyn and her husband, John, are loyal clients of our South American tours. Last year, during a Complete Pantanal tour, she had already shown an interest in wildlife photography and started practicing little by little. Today, with her own professional camera and a lot of dedication, she captured these amazing images of a young puma that we were lucky to observe — along with its sibling — in its natural habitat here in Patagonia.

Essas fotos lindas foram tiradas na Patagônia, Chile, pela nossa querida amiga e cliente, Gwyn Brough. Estamos muito orgulhosos de ver o quanto a fotografia dela evoluiu!

Gwyn e seu marido, John, são clientes fiéis dos nossos roteiros pela América do Sul. No ano passado, durante um tour completo no Pantanal, ela já demonstrava interesse pela fotografia de vida selvagem e começou a praticar aos poucos.

Hoje, com sua própria câmera profissional e muita dedicação, ela registrou essas imagens incríveis de um jovem puma que tivemos a sorte de observar — junto com sua irmã— em seu habitat natural aqui na Patagônia.

Photographing the pumas is more than just a photo

Photographing the pumas is more than just a photo — it’s also a beautiful experience.
In this video our dear guest @margaretweiss was able to make this gorgeous portrait.

⭕️Important note: We always stay between 30 to 50 meters away.
Thanks to our zoom lenses and phones, it may look much closer than it really is.

These pumas are habituated to human presence, and there were several experienced guides present at that moment to assist if needed.

Usually, we stay close together as a group. Pumas — like most wild cats — will never attack a group of people or animals. It’s in their nature to wait for one or two individuals to become separated before approaching.

And just to clarify, I’m referring to wild animals in general — because when it comes to humans, there are no recorded attacks by pumas in the wild in this region.
