Mandatory Travel Insurance – Remote Expeditions in Brazil

All international clients participating in expeditions organized by Pantanal Photo Tours are required to carry valid international travel insurance for the entire duration of the trip, including arrival and departure days. A copy of the insurance policy must be submitted to us prior to the start of the trip. Failure to provide valid proof of insurance before departure will result in the client not being permitted to travel.

Due to the remote nature of these destinations and limited access to medical facilities, the insurance policy must include, at minimum, the following coverage:

Emergency Medical and Hospital Coverage in Brazil
Coverage for emergency medical treatment, hospitalization, exams, surgery, and emergency dental care.

Minimum coverage: USD 100,000

• Emergency Medical Evacuation (Medevac)
Coverage for emergency evacuation by ground or air to the nearest appropriate medical facility within Brazil, when required due to injury or illness.

Minimum coverage: USD 150,000

• Medical Repatriation
Coverage for return to the traveler’s home country if medically necessary.

Minimum coverage: USD 50,000 (or full coverage without a specific limit)

• Repatriation of Remains
Coverage for international transportation in case of death.

Minimum coverage: USD 50,000 (or full coverage without a specific limit)

• 24/7 Emergency Assistance
A 24-hour emergency assistance service capable of coordinating medical care and evacuations.

Important Notes
• The insurance policy must be valid in Brazil and explicitly include medical evacuation and repatriation.
• Credit card insurance plans are accepted only if official documentation clearly confirms the required coverage limits.
• Travelers are responsible for ensuring that remote travel, wildlife activities, boat travel, and flights on small aircraft in remote areas (including chartered, bush, or light aircraft) are not excluded from their insurance policy.
